Rector: The Rev'd Nicole Uzans
(she/her) The rector is the priest responsible for the functions of the parish. About Nicole
The Rev. Nicole Uzans graduated from the Atlantic School of Theology (AST) in 2013 and served her first year in ordained ministry at St. John’s in Wolfville, before becoming Rector of the Parish of Northumberland (2014-19). She became Rector of St. John's in 2020, and now also serves as Regional Dean for the Annapolis Valley. She was the Pilgrimage Coordinator for Camino Nova Scotia, a program of AST, and is a pilgrim in her own right, having walked the Camino de Santiago in 2019. Prior to ordination, Nicole developed a career in the arts, working variously as an arts instructor, curator, community arts animator, and painter. She is married to Penny Nelson, a minister in the United Church of Canada, and together they love vegetable gardening, ocean swimming, and hosting fabulous backyard bonfires. 📞 902-542-2464 (church office)

Director of Music & Organist: Dr. Michelle Boyd

Dr. Michelle Boyd has been the Director of Music at St. John’s since 2015. A pianist and organist, she has been involved in church music for as long as she can remember and greatly values the sense of community that comes from being in a church choir. Michelle is also an instructor in Acadia University’s School of Music (her alma mater), where she teaches courses in musicology and musicianship, directs the Acadia University Singers, and plays French horn in the Acadia Wind Ensemble. When she’s not rehearsing or teaching music, Michelle enjoys walking through Wolfville’s beautiful trails with her dogs, Molly and Lucy. |
Digital Communications Manager: Margaret Finlay
(she/her) The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for our online ministries, including our digital services and our social media. ABout Margaret
Margaret made Wolfville her home, and St John's her spiritual home, in 2016 when she moved here to begin studying at Acadia University. She graduated in 2020, but remained active in the community, singing in both the St John's Choir and the Manning Chapel Choir on the university campus. Passionate about online ministry, she was thrilled to take up the DCM position when it was created in 2022. She's now pursuing a PhD at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. When she's not singing, online, or writing, Margaret loves a good book or a meal out with friends. |
Wardens
Cameron Finlay
(he/him) about cameron
Cameron joined St John’s in January 2020 after leaving the parish of St Clement (Toronto) where he had previously been a warden, a co-chair of stewardship, a facilitator in Christian formation, and a choir member since childhood. His experiences garnered from these various church roles, as well as four decades working in the field of medical technology education and marketing, have helped in the expansion of the internet presence of St John’s. Now fully retired, he enjoys spending his time reading for pleasure, singing in multiple choirs, enjoying the staggering beauty of the Annapolis Valley in all its facets, discovering local craft breweries, and composing music. |
Karen Padovani
(she/her) About Karen
Karen began worshipping remotely at St. John's during the pandemic. She moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia in 1990 where she has served on Parish Council and in music ministry at St. John's Anglican (Lunenburg) and was an active member of the congregation at St. James Anglican (Kentville). Semi-retired, Karen is also the Assistant to the Office of the President at Acadia Divinity College, providing strategic and business planning support. An avid gardener and voracious reader, Karen can usually be found with a book in one hand and a hoe in the other. |
