The oven is a warm and inviting community space
​for people to cook, eat, and come together in the park.

St. John's was delighted to sponsor the Community Oven in Fall 2024
with the assistance of The Windsor Foundation!

We sponsored August 22nd, September 12th, October 3rd, and October 17th.
See below for details on the amazing dinners we made together!

August 22, 2024 - CORN! CORN! CORN!

We'll have corn-on-the-cob for the whole community, plus we'll work together to prepare cornbread and corn salad options.

You are invited to bring:
  • B.Y.O.[C] B. ----> Bring Your Own Corn Bread!
  • Any other food you may like to enjoy for a picnic in the park
  • Plates and cutlery for your group
September 12, 2024 - TACO NIGHT!

Join us for a fun night learning how to make tortillas in the live-fire oven. We'll provide everything necessary to make the taco shells. Bring your favourite taco filling(s) & a tasty side-dish to share.

You are invited to bring:
  • Taco fillings (precooked proteins - beans, meat, fish etc., salsa, sour cream, cilantro, cheese, greens, pickled veggies, tomatoes, peppers, hot sauce etc.)
  • Any other food you may like to enjoy for a picnic in the park
  • Plates and cutlery for your group

October 3, 2024 - PIZZA PARTY!

Join us for a fun night making fresh pizza in the live-fire oven. We'll provide dough and some sauce. Bring your favourite toppings & sides, salads, or dessert to share!

You are invited to bring: 
  • ​Your favourite toppings, sauce, & cheese
  • Any food and drink you may like to enjoy with your pizza for a picnic in the park
  • Plates and cutlery for your group

This parish is located in Mi'kma'ki, the traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq people. This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1775.
