Exploring the life of Jesus alongside
Diana Butler Bass’ Freeing Jesus

Some people experience Jesus as a teacher or moral guide.  For others he is friend, Lord, or personal saviour. This book study will help participants think about who Jesus was, who the Church tells us Jesus is, and who Jesus is for them.

Tuesday evening sessions are led (via livestream) by the Rev. Dr. Heather McCance, President of the Atlantic School of Theology.
Ways to participate:
  • Read the book!
    • Sign up for purchase ($20 or pay what you can) – St. John’s will bulk order to save on shipping
  • Attend evening sessions with the Rev. Dr. Heather McCance, 7:30-9pm, Tuesdays, Sept 17th–Oct 22nd.
    • The livestreamed Zoom sessions will be hosted at St. John’s. Break-out discussion will happen in person.
    • The Rev. Dr. Heather McCance has served as the Director of Field Education and of Pastoral Studies at the Diocese of Montreal and has over twenty years in parish ministry where she has developed deep intercultural experiences. She currently serves as the President of Atlantic School of Theology.
  • Attend daytime discussions of the book at St. John’s on Thursdays, 10:30-noon, Sept 19th - Oct 24th.
