St. John’s was delighted to once again host ArtChoral as part of their Musique Royale Nova Scotia tour.  The programme was titled “Here Comes the Sun” and they delivered!  Delightful selections from arrangements of Lennon & McCartney songs through expressive Renaissance offerings, ArtChoral demonstrated their virtuosity, blend, and impeccable sense of ensemble singing.  This a cappella quartet comprised of Janelle Lucyk (soprano), Kerry Bursey (tenor), Rosalie Lane Lépine (alto) and William Kraushaar (bass) brought to life songs depicting birdsong, medieval battle (and victory!) and deep yearning, all without the use of any instrumentation.  The evening weather was pleasant and the sunset glorious, and the birds could be easily heard through the open doors as they also seemed to appreciate and even echo the music being offered inside.  St John’s and ArtChoral now have a connection which both groups hope to see continue and flourish!
