Friendship Sunday: Celebrating Community and Connection

Building on the wonderful energy of our recent Newcomers’ Meal, and with fond memories of last year’s early summer BBQ, all were invited to gather for Friendship Sunday following the 10:00 a.m. service on May 31, Trinity Sunday.
 
Food was aplenty, as was lively chatter. Conversation starter questions were placed on each table to help people get to know one another better, leading to much sharing of stories and laughter:

• What was the funniest or strangest thing you’ve ever seen happen at church?
• What is the best or most memorable gift you have ever received?

As we enjoyed being together, we also took time to honour the many gifts that have been shared within this community and beyond over the years. We offered heartfelt thanks to Ron Stuart, whose decades of leadership in painting classes have encouraged creativity and uncovered artistic talents that many participants never knew they possessed. Former students displayed paintings they had created over the years, a visible testament to Ron’s gift for teaching and encouragement.

​We also expressed our gratitude to Helen Ackerman and Elaine Slauenwhite for
their many years leading prayers, reading scripture and sharing their gifts of music
during worship services at both the Wolfville Elms and the Wolfville Nursing Home.
Together, their ministries have enriched the spiritual life of many and reflected the
caring heart of our church.

​Friendship Sunday was a joyful celebration of the relationships that sustain us, the
gifts that each person brings, and the many ways God continues to work through
this congregation.
 
And there was cake!
