.

a new initiative at St. John's!

What is this?

The Emmaus Sessions are weekly, small group gatherings for faith exploration. This fall, we’ll explore the parables of Jesus.

The dates are Oct 13th – Nov 21st, with different groups meeting on various days & times. Participants commit to 6 weeks of weekly gatherings, each lasting 1½  - 2hrs. Facilitators from the St. John’s congregation lead the weekly sessions.

What can I expect at a small group gathering?

The facilitators have been trained by the Rev. Nicole Uzans in leading open, honest conversation centered on the stories of Jesus.  Each weekly gathering includes a time for socializing or ‘checking in’ with one another, then a short Gospel passage is read and discussed.  Facilitators guide the conversation by asking a few questions and making space for participants’ reflections, ideas, and challenges with the passage.  The gathering concludes with a short prayer.

Who is this for?

It’s for anyone who would like to talk about faith, the bible, and Jesus – and who is interested in learning from others’ experience & questions, too. Whether or not you have a church connection, you’re welcome to come with your questions & doubts, your faith and your hopes. The Sessions are built on the trust that we can all learn from each other.

Interested? Great! Sign up below:

There are sign-up sheets at the front & back doors of St. John’s church, or contact the Rev. Nicole Uzans at 902-956-4892 (cell) or nicole.uzans@gmail.com.
