What is this?
The Emmaus Sessions are weekly, small group gatherings for faith exploration. Participants commit to 6 weeks of weekly gatherings, each lasting 1 ½ -2hrs. Facilitators from the St. John’s congregation lead the weekly sessions.
What can I expect at a small group gathering?
The facilitators lead open, honest conversation centered on the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday. Each weekly gathering includes a time for socializing or ‘checking in’ with one another, then a short Gospel passage is read and discussed. Facilitators guide the conversation by asking a few questions and making space for participants’ reflections, ideas, and challenges with the passage. The gathering concludes with a short prayer.
Who is this for?
It’s for anyone who would like to talk about faith, the bible, and Jesus – and who is interested in learning from others’ experience & questions, too. Whether or not you have a church connection, you’re welcome to come with your questions & doubts, your faith and your hopes. The Sessions are built on the trust that we can all learn from each other.
