Celebrating new ministry

21/11/2021

On the evening of November 19 we celebrated the beginning of the new ministry of our own Rev. Nicole Uzans here at St. John’s. This date was chosen by Nicole and it commemorates the Anglo- Saxon Saint Hilda of Whitby, a woman of “great energy, skilled in teaching and administration.” It was wonderful to learn about this ancient Saint on this special night.

There were several clergy attending, notably our present Bishop the Right Rev. Sandra Fyfe who gave the Sermon. Present also were Nicole’s family - including her mother Rev. Lynn Uzans. The Rev. Tom Henderson officiated at the induction ceremony during which several unique and very meaningful symbols of ministry were  presented. Many of the surrounding area churches were represented as well, along with some friends from out- of- town.

The choir blessed all those present with the special music they had prepared for the evening, and the entire service filled us all with a sense of adventure, hope and strength for this newest chapter in our church’s history and future development.

Congratulations Nicole- we are all so glad to have you here with us as our newest Parish Rector!
